What Dumpster Size Should I Rent?

Our dumpster rental sizes are reflective of the most commonly used sizes in the Akron area. For your own particular project, you should consider a dumpster that will be able to hold all of your debris without being overfilled. Most contractors and trade professionals will be able to guesstimate the right size for their work just based on prior experience. Homeowners and first-time customers generally need some help figuring out which size is right for them, but that’s okay because we’ve got a great team here at Akron Dumpster Rental. If you don’t know what size roll-off is going to work best for you, all you have to do is give us a call and we can help you get the right size roll-off container for you!

Some Handy Tips for Renting a Dumpster

  • Our dumpster rental sizes cover a wide range of potential projects
  • We offer 10, 15, 20, 30, and 40 yard bins for household or construction debris removal
  • Additional 20 yarders are provided for heavy debris: concrete, brick, block, or asphalt
  • Make sure your delivery area (be it driveway or work site) is clear of all obstacles
  • If you are ordering multiple dumpsters for the same work site, ensure that adequate space is available

Which Sizes Are Best for Remodeling?

If you are remodeling your home, office, or other property, you will probably need a dumpster or two to get the job done. But the sizes you choose are going to largely depend on the type and volume of debris you need to throw out. In general, debris such as drywall, wood, plumbing fixtures, and other common building materials will need to be placed in a larger container.  That’s because these materials are bulkier and heavier than your run of the mill trash, like egg cartons and plastic wrappers. They take up a lot more space, meaning that those 10 and 15 yarders are unlikely to pass muster.

That’s why we usually recommend either the 30 or 40 yard container for remodeling projects. Not only do they offer more space for the bulky stuff, but they also have a higher weight capacity. That means you won’t have to worry as much about all of the things you are throwing into the bin. Trust us, one of the things that remodelers are notorious for is overfilling their dumpsters, especially those do-it-yourselfers. It might make sense for you to aim for a smaller dumpster size, just to save more of your budget for fun things like new curtains and floorboards. But more often than not, that smaller dumpster will end up being a ton or more overweight costing you a lot more in fees than just renting a bigger size would.

So don’t underestimate the size of your remodel if you want to get the job done on-time and under budget. Always spring for the size that’ll handle the debris you already have, as well as the debris to come. But if you know you’re going to be going through a lot of dumpsters, don’t hesitate to order a whole bunch at once. We’ll be able to move all of them over to your location easily!
